Woodmill Outdoor Activities Centre

This multi-activity centre located on the River Itchen can be a great time for families with more adventurous kids.

It offers plenty of great activities on water and land, including kayaking, paddleboarding, climbing, abseiling and much more.

Plus, kids can also learn useful skills out in the woods, such as bushcraft and orienteering, alongside fun exercises such as archery and axe throwing.

Alpine Snowsports Southampton

Described as a “great venue for new and experienced snowsports fans” the Alpine Snowsports Centre could work as a great spot for a family day out.

Activities on offer include skiing, snowboarding and tubing on the artificial slopes, which can be booked at the website here.

It adds: “We’ve got a really enthusiastic and passionate instructor team who can help you get started if you’ve never been on the slopes before, or push your practice skills on a little bit further if you’re looking for a helping hand to improve.”

Boulder Shack Climbing Gym

Another one for the active kids, the Boulder Shack Climbing Gym offers opportunities for people to have lots of fun with climbing.

It’s appropriate for all abilities, with the centre also offering kids parties for those aged six and over.

An adventurous time can be enjoyed by the whole family at Go Ape Southampton, with its high ropes courses, zip lines and axe throwing.

Describing itself as “Southampton’s leading interactive attraction” there’s plenty to discover at the SeaCity Museum, with tickets available at their website here.

Several permanent exhibits explore the story of the Titanic, Southampton’s history and port.

These exhibits are “bursting with an exciting collection of models, costumes, artworks, photographs, incredible stories and much more”.

If you have children interested in history this could make for a fun couple of hours to learn about local stories.
