Location, Location, Location: Southampton features on Channel 4 show

Location, Location, Location aired on Channel 4 on Wednesday night and put the spotlight on the city.

Property moguls Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp scoured Bitterne and Regents Park in search of the perfect future-proofed home for couple Antoinette and Matt.

The pair were keen to move somewhere within walking distance of shops and amenities, and with great travel connections.

They were also seeking a home with three to four-bedrooms, with a maximum budget of £450,000.

Kirstie and Phil were first seen enjoying a stroll in the Ocean Village marina, opening the episode with impressive scenery (of which the Daily Echo office can be seen in the background).

Kirstie then meets Antoinette and Matt outside the first prospective property in Athelstan Road.

The 1930s semi-detached house was recently refurbished at the time of filming, and boasted three bedrooms and one bathroom.

Kirstie: “It has been cleverly extended to make a spacious kitchen/diner that’s just perfect for parties.

“Bursting with wow factor yet comfortably in budget with offers over £390,000.

“It is £35,000 under their £450,000 maximum, but not a penny more needing to be spent.”

Despite strong first impressions – with Matt a fan of the view of the River Itchen from the house– it did not tick the right boxes.

Not deterred, Kirstie takes the couple to a property in Dimond Road in Bitterne Park.

Describing it as a ‘desirable area’ Kirstie said it is ‘a lot of house for the money and is really future-proofed’.

She also said it affords the couple ‘easy access’ to Bitterne village – with a clip of Shirley High Street shown on the screen.

The three-bedroom property open to offers in excess of £425,000 impressed the couple, with its garden a particular highlight.

But it was the final property that wowed both Antoinette and Matt.

Speaking on the Regents Park property, Kirstie said: “There is ample parking on the 60-foot driveway and inside, this imposing semi has a large front sitting room and a large extended kitchen/diner.”

It was for sale with a guide price of £400,000.

Antoinette said: “I like a house with character. This is my favourite so far; I can really see the potential.

“I really like it, I’m really keen.”

The pair put in an offer of £400,000 while enjoying a coffee at Kuti’s in Southampton, with Kirstie shortly receiving a phone call to say the offer was accepted.
