Southampton's Bellemoor School pupils in the 1990s

Bellemoor School nurtured thousands of pupils over its 41 years – including those who made the headlines throughout the 1990s.

It was a particularly busy year for pupils in 1997 as they raised more than £600 for Barnardo’s charity by holding both a talent contest and an inter-school ten-pin bowling competition.

That same year saw young newshounds bag a trip to the House of Commons after success in a Times Education Supplement competition.

The team produced a paper in one day which went on to be rated in the top five of 425 entries.
