This is why police were on Chapel Road this morning

Police were called to the incident at an address on Chapel Road in St Mary’s shortly after 5.30am on Sunday, July 7.

Officers arrested a 36-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of assault, who remains in custody at this time.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 5.31am this morning (Sunday, July 7) to a report of a domestic incident taking place at an address on Chapel Road in Southampton.

“Officers attended and arrested a 36-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody at the current time.”

The police spokesperson added: “A woman in her 20s sustained minor injuries. An investigation into the incident is underway.”
