Hampshire Constabulary has now launched an appeal for witnesses after the incident, which took place at a property on Pembrey Close, Lordshill, at just after 10am on Thursday.

A jewellery box was taken with a number of items of sentimental value, the force said.

Southampton West Inspector, Andrew Proctor, said: “Residential burglary is always an intrusive and traumatic crime for its victims, but the way in which this vulnerable victim was restrained as sentimental items were taken from her own home in broad daylight is particularly abhorrent.

“My officers have been in the area since the incident was reported to us and remain there today carrying out enquiries.

“We urge anyone with information, questions or concerns to please come and speak to them. We are doing everything we can to identify the people responsible for this crime.

“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 44240226516.”

Police said officers were called shortly after 10.20am on May 30 to a report that three males had forced entry to a property on Pembrey Close by smashing the window of a rear door.

The only description police have of the males at the current time is that they were all wearing dark clothing. The force said as soon as it has a more detailed description it will update the public.

Officers have been at the scene and in the area of the burglary since the incident was reported and would now like to hear from anyone who may have information to assist its investigation.

Hampshire Constabulary said anyone who lives in the local area and saw suspicious activity yesterday morning at around 10.20am, or have dash cam footage that captured three males wearing dark clothing, should get in touch.
